Migraine and Headache Remedies

Some simple tips and home remedies to help with nagging headache issues.

Do you get headaches? I sometimes do, for various reason, and sometimes I’ve had a family member or friend visiting and they mention having recurrent headaches, migraines, or simply a slight headache coming on and when any of us do, I have a little checklist that I go through with them to offer a few suggestions.

Everyone can have different reasons for having head pain and this is not meant to deal with the reasons why or what the root cause of a headache is, rather it is meant to give some simple remedies that could potentially relieve them in certain circumstances. Exploring the root cause of your headache is still a good idea and I encourage that however my following checklist is meant to help relieve some of the discomfort you or your family might experience through simple at-home methods.

Migraine Remedies Checklist:

For long term improvement, try to regularly eat foods that lower your inflammation as this will help prevent Migraines and headaches in the future. The following are some ideas:
-consume Vitamin D rich foods such as butter, cheese, liver, heart, farm raised eggs and meat and lard plus Cod Liver Oil.
-Magnesium rich foods such as meat stock and bone broth, bananas, nuts and seeds, green leafy vegetables, such as Swiss chard, spinach, and beet greens, avocado, celery, poultry. Taking a Magnesium supplement and a Epsom salt bath can be really helpful to stop the progress of a headache.
-probiotic rich foods such as yogurt and kefir as well as fermented vegetables in the form of sauerkraut, cucumbers, red onions, carrot juice, beet kvass, shredded carrot pickles with turmeric and ginger as well as probiotic drinks like Kombucha or water kefir soda.
-grains such as buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa, and teff
-Vitamin C rich foods such as sauerkraut.
-Tomato juice for potassium.
-Turmeric smoothie with either coconut milk or fermented dairy, plus ginger, turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, banana, and some type of berry (an anti-inflammatory shake).
-Grass fed beef liver once a week will also help.
-Spaghetti squash is also an anti-inflammatory food. -cherries
